My name is Brea Maxey and I am currently a senior at Shorewood High School enrolled in Visual Journalism. While being in this class I've learned how to take better pictures, all the different types of ways to film, to take and fix audio, I’ve also learned more about different types of news and how to make those types of news articles. As you look at my page you’ll be able to see some of my work from this class.

Nine Fingers was a project I completed with Oriyah, the meaning behind our video is that we were focusing on how to use basic shots and put it all together by trying to explain in video form a statement which is what our title is.

Personal Profile

staring Delea Martins

With the personal profile I had to get out of my confront zone and interview someone who I wasn’t so familiar with. I chose Delea Martins because Delea is such an all around amazing person, I interviewed Delea to speak about her track/runners life and her decisions about her college choice. I start with asking her what her biggest inspiration is, her older brother who runs track is her biggest inspiration and supporter. The brother/sister relationship pushed her to be better than him. She told me some of her PR (personal record) in the 400 and 200. She then explained to me how she feels after winning and maybe even losing a run saying that track is an independent sport and if she works hard enough and feels she did her best, no matter win or lose she is still a winner. She has recently committed to UNC, she is in love with the school and believes that this was the best decision for her and that 6 year old her would be so proud. Delea ends with saying “To be the best you have to be determined, confident and to believe you are the best.” Have a listen.

My Shorewood was one of m first actual documentaries, it helped me explain how I felt about Shorewood, though I haven’t lived here my whole life with my new friends who feel like family makes me feel like I have.
